A while back you paid for some professional, and you got a diagnosis and medication. What's happened about that. Can you not see the same person you saw before?

I know a couple who had to call the police on their (adopted) son a few times for his violent outbursts. The kid has settled down now, become a father and seems to be quite stable now. Hope that happens for you - especially becoming a grandad.

We paid for a private psych because GP wouldn't even consider medication. This psych guy is one of the top child psychs in the country (and his fees reflect this!) and he said straight away. GP then agreed.

Eventually we got to see CAMHS. Useless. Junior psych doctor there tried to argue against medication (which I thought was a bit rich considering he was obviously a junior and he was arguing agaisnst the opinion of one of the uks leading experts).

He got counselling at CAMHS, and we paid for more. Pointless. Just not arsed to get involved he isn't.

Eventually, after much incompetence, he had the Aspergers assessment. We knew anyway (and this private guy had said 99% he thought). After that CAMHS pretty much dropped him. Nothing.

He still takes the meds. Helps. I dread to think what he'd be like without.

Of course, hes older now, bigger, getting more aggressive and violent. I've read it normal that emotionaly Aspie kids just dont get it. Hes like that. Nothing sinks in or makes an ounce of difference to him it seems. He just does not seem to have the capacity to rationalise that violent behaviour will not end well for anyone.

Help is hard to come by thats for sure.

We do have an appointment tomorrow with a charity that specialises in things from a family point of view. Finger crossed.

For a so-called 3rd world NHS, they did a very good saving my mother-in-law's life - I'll never forgive them!

I'm not sure that Switzerland is that desperate either. But since NHS Wales is so dire, perhaps he'll find NHS England more to his liking.
