    Nope.

The homeless or desperate who no longer get any pleasure out of drinking or drugs.
It's a way of life for them, but with no pleasure element attached.

Understanding the Development of Minimum Unit Pricing of Alcohol in Scotland: A Qualitative Study of the Policy Process

There are plenty of other studies if you actually look for them. Health professional bodies as well as police, etc are all behind the minimum pricing policy as it will cut early deaths from alcohol related diseases.

Scotland has a terrible record with alcohol related diseases so we need to do something about it. It's only taken this long because of the drinks industry taking it through the courts.

It's worth looking at who is behind medical research articles and knowing the authors funding and political affiliations. The articles particularly those posted on any NHS website are not neutral.

I agree but pricing isn't the main issue as other posters on this thread have pointed out.

So you're punishing the Scots for inventing the solution to their problem? "Scotch - if everyone was permanently pissed, someone will eventually fancy you..."

No, there'll just be a hell of a load more people on prescription meds to make up the shortfall in quick fixes, and a hell of a lot of ex-MPs on the dole because all the voters are furious that some f*cktard has jacked up the price of their G&T. All this will do is lead to an increase in crime, as anyone who studied what happened in the USA in the post-Volstead period will tell you. If it was a stupid idea 100 years ago, just think how stupid an idea it is now.

Why do those of us who have some degree of control have to pay more because some don't?

Those with any degree of control will feck off out of there while they still can...

It's for the health of the nation apparently.

They forget if you are a rich alcoholic - and some are - it makes no fecking difference.

If you are a poor one then you just drink moonshine.
