I picked it up - travel card or wallet. I handed it over and she snatched it like MrsBP does when I give her a tenner. Not a word of thank you or anything.

Clearly she wasn't beaten enough as a child when she showed lack of common courtesy.

Is that why there is always plenty of space around you?

Difference between northern and southern travel:

Up north, people say excuse me and the person moves.

Down south, people just say sorry and barge through.

Up north I mostly see people who rarely see sunlight and look feral.

Down South people don't say sorry - they just barge through.

Exactly. The South East eats money, time and your soul.

The Jubilee line from waterloo to Canary Wharf can be quite amusing. They have a queing system to get on and you get your chancers who pretend they don't understand how it works and do the gradual edging thing to try and get an elbow/shoulder in for when the train arrives. The suspense and tension while the train is arriving and you know it's going to be a 'me or them' situation is quite something. Especially as you know they are all bankers and 'stepping on people to get to where they need to go' is what they live for.

It's hard to find a balance between not being too overly assertive yourself and actually getting on a train...

Perhaps they should have little men with sticks to force you all aboard like the Japs, I hear, have.
