Recommendations wanted for SUV I plan buying in new year

Bought a Rangerover Vogue a couple of years ago, and it has been nothing but trouble, a real money pit.

Most of its issues have centred round an electronic board called the Body Control Unit, which the designers in their wisdom sited just above the rear wheel arch.

Every time this blasted BCU gets the slightest bit damp, after I drive through a puddle or simply after a few days of damp weather, things start failing all over the place.

So, in summary, I am looking for a large petrol SUV, at least 2.5 litres preferably or 3 litres. A bit of poke would be nice, but the most important thing is reliability.

Any recommendations for the model(s) I should be searching for on Auto Trader?

Porsche Macan or Cayenne? Jag F-Pace? Bentley Monthpython or whatever it's called? Or a Lexus or a BMW or a Lamborghini n (not sure that's out yet...) or a Jeep if you're feeling masochistic. Or save £40k and get a new model CX-5 or Nissan, which are just as capable if you don't plan climbing mountains.

Or a big can of WD40.....

              What is your actual requirement?
I.e. do you need permanent 4wd, or if not, do you want front only, rear only, or temporary 4wd with a bias (if so, which bias)
How many people will you be carrying most of the time?
Do you need a big boot?
Do you need a low boot sill (e.g. for a dog or loading shopping)
              Will you be towing anything?
Will the majority of driving be on-road?
Will it do more than 10 miles a year outside a city/town?
Do you want low profile tyres on fat ones?
Do you need a gun safe?
Are you a premiership footballer or drug dealer?
              Do you like squirrels? Cooked?
How soon are you wanting the new car?
How much are you wanting to spend?
              Etc.

Your requirement of “an engine of 2.5-3l” is like a client telling a consultant how to do his job. Client gives consultant requirement, consultant comes up with solution.

The engine delivers some decent power and the car is lighter than most of its rivals. The handling is good and responsive.

Don’t know about the snow other than some YouTube vids showing decent off road capabilities.

The car looks good and is a bit different. Oh the Volvo sat nav software is tulipe.
