If poor people ask for more they will get poorer

Robot warning over living wage rise - BBC News

The rapid increase in the living wage could mean that more jobs are replaced by robots, the Institute of Fiscal Studies has warned.

People will be replaced by robots whatever happens.

Is there any way to avoid social revolution as the poorer get increasingly stuffed?

Rather than increasing the minimum/living wage maybe they could lower the cost of living, starting with the base necessaries such as accommodation (inc gas/leccy/water costs), food, and transport.

Many jobs are difficult to robotise for the foreseeable future, so much like computerisation has changed many common job roles over the last 30 odd years, the same gradual change process will happen with robotisation.

People will adjust their career paths. Get the kids trained in something not easily outsourced (abroad or to robots) or in one of the upcoming robot specialisations, for a safeguarded future.

Social revolution is already kept under control by the benefits/tax credits system. Tax changes on companies using robots will pay for the growing percentage of population settling or being forces into the benefits lifestyle, ending eventually in a citizens wage which is those benefits in a less demeaning package.
Maybe tomorrow, I'll want to settle down. Until tomorrow, I'll just keep moving on.

Robots are miles off for most jobs. AI is miles off. Which is a shame cause I was banking on having a personal robot slave for all my needs.

          I like that idea.

Hopefully eventually everyone will get a universal income so no-one needs to work. Liked by left wingers(its fairer) and right wingers(its cheaper) alike.

Then we can all choose if to work.

Outdated claptrap, there have been numerous modern studies disproving the minimum wage unemployment link of classical economics.

              Hear hear!

And adding robots into the argument won't change things. That will happen anyway.

If the office is paperless, what will the robots keep tidy?

I don't, personally believe in a minimum wage being a libertarian I'd rather have less government and more personal responsibility but that's just me.

However given the unprecedented wave of low skilled labour which has arrived in these shores since the mid 90's, ensuring that the no skilled or semi skilled Brit has an even harder time than normal in operating in a low wage economy, I do see some merit to it.

But there again I see merit to Prisoners working for their bed and board so perhaps I am outdated..

Here here for less government. Westminster has been very damaging for the UK as a whole in the recent years gone by.
