    Summer family holiday recommendations

    Looking for:

    1. Spain or Portugal
    2. Budget ~£5k for 10 day or 2 week holiday
    3. 4 or 5 star hotel or aparthotel.
    4. Not a chavvy place
    5. Near beach
    6. Suitable for kids but not parent hell either

I doubt any of you moonlight as travel advisors but I'm only asking in case anyone here can personally recommend a place

Rent a villa with a pool in Portugal. That's what we were planning to do, but we're going to Australia for a wedding instead.

I agree with this, we have rented a villa for several years now. We used to do the Maldives etc around 8k for a couple, now for much, much less we can rent a fantastic villa, great views and choose to have a bbq or find a restaurant. Friends hire a condo when in the US.

Try El Portet, near Moraira in Spain - though friends love Portugal. El Portet has a great little beach, great for the kids and lots of Villas to rent, though pay the extra and get a sea view. Honestly, it's gone a bit touristy, used to be a place the Spanish went to but it's still good.

Sounds good, but I’m never sure on the decent companies that do this kind of thing.

          Any suggestions?

And do you organise flights separately?

I will find out the names of the places we have used to book in the past, it's for Spain, sorry not stayed in Portugal. We organise the flights separately though we take our dogs and drive. We spend a little while travelling around France then hit Spain for the Sun.

The only thing I would suggest if you see a villa, look for reviews on Tripadvisor etc before booking.

Avoid VillaSasguru. Unless you want to be continually told you are a cretin.

In terms of Majorca, this place was very pleasant a few years ago and looks to have kept the standard up on TA. https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_...c_Islands.html
