Not had a loan in over 10 years. Had quite a few car loans in the 90s before I went contracting and built up reserves. Threw out all that paperwork during a house move years ago thinking it was of no use.

Some from dodgy companies where the car salesman wheeled you in to see their advisers on various add-ons such as gap insurance, paint protection, and PPI style insurance. I remember I always turned them down but wouldn't surprise me if they had ticked it afterwards. No way of knowing now as the car dealers have long gone and I've no account details of the loan companies involved, can barely remember their names.

Still have one avenue to explore, the bank I've been with since I started working after uni. Had a few loans and credit cards with them over the years. There's a 'did I have PPI?' check form to complete on their website where they'll go through all the loans and products to check if PPI was ever included. Don't remember having any so if they come back with a 'yes' then that is a good start.
Maybe tomorrow, I'll want to settle down. Until tomorrow, I'll just keep moving on.
