    Poor old Ant or Dec

Ant McPartlin fined £86,000 after pleading guilty to drink-driving | Daily Mail Online

£86,000? That's about £85,000 more than most drunk drivers get fined. Is it because he's a Geordie?
His heart is in the right place - shame we can't say the same about his brain...

It's half a weeks wage now for a fine, apparently he earns 130k a week, seemingly net, so my question is, why?

The Times reviewer said that Ant or Dec did quite well hosting their show on his own. He was able to stand in the centre of the stage, and finish off his own sentences.
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!

Because he's massively popular with the public - so TV companies want him on their shows so that they can drive people towards their channel. Apparently that's worth ~130k a week!

Slightly less sarcastically, he fronts several of the most popular programmes for ITV.

The problem is that when both of them were around you always knew which one was which. Ant stood on one side and Dec stood on the other. Always the same - Ant (or was it Dec) was on the left and Dec (or was it Ant) was on the right. Now there's only one of them, it's hard to know. Is he Ant or is he Dec?

It's almost a Schrodinger-esque experiment for those concerned about animal cruelty.
Imagine you have two identical cats, where the only way you can tell them apart is based on where they stand relative to each other. If, at random, one of the cats is removed, how can you be certain which cat you're left with. In a sense you don't have any cats, because one only exists relative to the other. If the other one doesn't exist, the first one can't. Cattus Ergo Sum

Easy - Ant is the taller one.

He'll be back, almost guaranteed. Still plenty of public support and sympathy for him.
