    Is that about right?
Yes, after he'd already been caught twatting about during a trial and was told in absolutely no uncertain terms that if he started twatting about during another trial he'd go to jail.

He also attempted to film the defendants, jury, victims and so on. It's a defence barristers wet dream - that's the root problem.

His supporters will be along shortly to say no, but that's probably not too far off the truth.

If, because of his actions, the case has to go for re-trial, then the victims and witnesses will have to go through the ordeal again of being examined and cross examined.

The guy is a prick and it's in his interest for this kind of publicity.

But on the other hand. Apparently, he had been briefed to only talk about details already in the public domain, so accusations etc that had been printed in the local newspaper. So I'm not sure how this could affect the jury.

So, if that's all that he has done then that's worrying.

Apparently he was claiming to be a reporter who was reporting live from a court case regarding sex abuse, which is probably going to result in a mistrial because of his "reporting"

...but that's not at all worrying to some.

                Not quite.

It’s contempt of court for two reasons:

One, the presiding judge in that trial had imposed a partial reporting ban. Real journalists know what they are allowed to report on, what they are allowed to say, and what they aren’t. So in that sense yes you’re about right.

Two, and just as importantly, he was operating under a suspended sentence for a similar offence where the previous judge had instructed him not to do this again. His contempt of court was therefore also contempt of the previous ruling in his suspended sentence.

He was filming inside the court building. He was also trying to film other people in there. This is against the law as it could lead to defendants, witnesses, jurors, or any combination of those being identified.

Not a hard rule to follow - just don't start filming and live-streaming yourself (and other people) on Facebook when inside a building full of courtrooms

When you have a suspended sentence for a similar offence hanging over you.
