Budge up, coming to a bench near you soon

Very rarely have I done this in 25 years contracting, but I have invoked my months notice period on my contract.

It was still to run to the end of August (which would have been 20 months) but it is debatable whether I would have got another. The guy who I working with has been put on garden leave & one of the big four have been drafted in. The early scouts have started arriving, and now I report to a big four consultant who is working out who they can replace with their own resources at 3 to 4x the same rate.

Warchest is super healthy, the summer is coming and the goose is getting fat.

I'm going on holiday for a few months.

I came very close to doing that once, but "someone" got me fired before I had the chance.

          Enjoy the summer

FFS, are you still going on about that? Look it was either me or you, and I got to HR first.

Are you soon to be propping up the bar at "The Station"?

              You'll be needing this...

              The Station(Fleet) - Food menu!
Old Greg - In search of acceptance since Mar 2007. Hoping each leap will be his last.

Good for you. That's what contracting is meant to be about. Many contractors (incl. me) rarely get to enjoy the fruits of our labours.

Funny thing though: although your warchest is in good nick, it's amazing the psychological affect of having no income. Your bank balance steps down a few grand every month and after years of accumulating you're now spending. It only takes a couple of months and you start to have concerns, even when there is no need.
