      Consultants commissioned by John McDonnell, the shadow chancellor, recommended the bank should retain its independence, but that its mandate be expanded to include an annual productivity growth target of 3 percent.
      How the F is BoE supposed to influence productivity ?!?

        This is the problem, there are many in the government who think they can.

        Anyway, Labour doesn't need to win power as May is moving to the left so quickly that we will soon effectively have a Labour government.

          By "shake up", they presumably mean they'll hold it upside down and shake it like a piggy bank until all the gold bullion has dropped out for them to grab and spend!
