    Anyone drive/driven an X1?

Due a new motor soon and looking for a good compact/crossover SUV. X1 has good reviews - anyone got/driven one or can recommend anything better in the same category with decent MPG and a bit of oomph?

Looks ugly, much prefer the X2 or the Jag E-Pace

What sort of budget are you on?

Sister in law has an X1.

Definitely ticks the box of "compact"

If you're anywhere near 6ft tall and sitting in the front, either no one sits behind you, or your knees are round your ears. Also standard spec is fairly chronic.

      What are your requirements/budget?
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore

There's a very even-handed review of some new models on the market here: 'automobiles with the highest level of security, reliability and design'.

          Must have Requirements:

          Actual combined MPG =<35
          Compact SUV
          Petrol
          Decent performance (0-60 <10 sec)

Budget up to £30k or up to £330/month with £5k down.

Open to used but no older than 2015

The problem with a new Beemer is you need to spend about £5k on the options - and almost everything is an option. And don't expect it to be any good in the wet/snow/or off-road, because it won't be.

Are you sure about the MPG?

                For an alternative:
VW Tiguan/Seat Ateca/Skoda Kodiaq/Karoq (all based on the same platform, all bigger inside than an X1)
                Volvo XC40
Merc GLA (not much bigger than the BMW)
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore

Are you sure about that? I mean, really, really sure...
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.
