    Take them all out get them pissed and then ask them. It won't be much use to you when you get yourself binned the next morning again though.

        But "market rate" is based on a lot of variables. Three contractors doing the identical job could have different rates based on:
        1. Experience before contracting in that client
        2. Experience with that client
        3. Intermediaries
        4. Negotiating skills

        And if the other contractors are not doing the identical job, then rate discussions are even more futile.

        e.g. MF has 2 years experience cleaning the toilets in the BA Silver lounge at T5. That doesn't mean he should be on the same rate as Steve, the head barman in the Concorde Room, who has been doing the job for 5.

          It’s none of your business what rate others are paid. You should negotiate a rate of which you are happy with. You either accept the rate and get on with the job or reject it and find another contract.
