              A person earning 50K BEFORE tax is in the top 2% of earners in the UK.

              Are you suggesting that the other 98% have sub-standard living conditions?

              If you cannot have a decent standard of living on 50K then your expectations of what is a reasonable standard of living, is unreasonable.

                      That's a good point. I'm beginning to feel that I'm snared by the affluent society. Most people live on less than half what I make: so, could I? It would be a good preparation for retirement.... Somehow I can imagine living on half what I make, but I couldn't see doing it just yet. Treadmill.
