Default No imminent IR35 changes till 2020

Off-payroll working in the private sector – To help people comply with the existing rules and bring private sector organisations in line with public-sector bodies and agencies, the government will reform the off-payroll working rules (known as IR35) in the private sector. This follows consultation and the roll-out of reform in the public sector. Responsibility for operating the off-payroll working rules will move from individuals to the organisation, agency or other third party engaging the worker. To give people and businesses time to prepare, this change will not be introduced until April 2020. Small organisations will be exempt, minimising administrative burdens for the vast majority of engagers, and HMRC will provide support and guidance to medium and large organisations ahead of implementation. Default IR35 from 2020

Extending changes to the way self-employment status is taxed, from the public sector to medium and large private companies, from 2020

Self-employed workers will see their tax bills increase from 2020 onwards as the government has expanded the off-payroll working rules, known as IR35, to the private sector.

Not strictly true is it though?

It doesn't mean increased tax unless you're caught inside IR35? If you're outside, and your client supports this, then you pay the same as you do now.

You know, I'm sure I read about this somewhere, I dunno, it sounds really familiar for some reason. Maybe it was on a thread somewhere on a forum, or perhaps on several very repetitive threads on the same forum.
