    Sadiq Khan

Sadiq Khan says it will take 10 years to get knife crime under control.

I know there is no simple answer but 10 years is not really very reassuring from the Mayor - when kids are being killed on the streets.

From April the UK can give them each a free support unicom to keep them on the straight and narrow.

He means "keep me in office" for ten years and I'll fix the crime problems. Naturally, he won't and people would have forgotten by then.

He's a bit pants as mayor, isn't he. Promised 80,000 new homes as part of the social housing initiative, didn't build one in the first year, final managing to start 1,263 homes, well down on what Boris achieved in the first two years of his first term and still less than what BoJo managed in the first year of his second term, which was after the financial crash.

Claims that he delivered an unprecedented programme of far-reaching improvements - allowed black cabs in more bus lanes.

What about his "bold package of measures" to revive street markets, which turned out to be creating a London Markets Board and an interactive map?

Crime is up by 12% since he became major, murders by even more. February and March were the first months in history when London homicides exceeded New York’s.

How's London transport doing, after his bold promises? I've read somewhere that it can't even manage to pay the interest on its debts. Oops.

If the Tories weren't so utterly incompetent, they'd be all over him like a tramp on chips, while using the fear of the nigh-on Communist Momentum Labour faction to steer voters their way.
The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world that he didn't exist

Another teenage stabbing in West Hampstead yesterday.

Those carrying knives are quaking in their boots with Sadiq's strong words and lack of action / strategy.

Oh well in 10 years time hopefully it will be better.

              Absolutely shocking from the mayor.

That is due to lack of Police and high house prices meaning the young see drug dealing as their only chance of being able to afford a property.

The ten year figure comes from the experiances of Glasgow who went thorugh the same process.

In essence it takes a generation of kids to grow up without knives or to grow out of carrying them for changes to happen.

It needs intervention in schools, better policing, better social networks and engagement to persuade kids not to carry knives and give them alternatives to the gangs and crime that breed the mentality that carrying a knife is something you have to do to survive.

Make the punishment fit the crime....Hang 'em high. The kids would soon stop carry knives if the punishment fitted the crime.

If you want to carry a weapon fine. 10 year conscription into the armed forces for those who want to use and carry weapons. You can either spend you time being useful or spend it in the military glass house.
