It's interesting to note that the academics have 7 weeks hols, which explains the 45 week thing to a tee.

7 weeks is hardly unusual in the private sector. It's rather civilised in fact


Some degrees definitely don't need to take 3 years though I wouldn't want to try and cram a science/history degree into that time. Good for the semi-vocational degrees.

In construction apprenticeships are for trades, sponsorship is for professionals!

So what? In any professional jon, 30+ days is becoming quite common with flexible holidays, buying more days, etc. Being an academic is a professional job.
