Some are far lefties as well.

Watched "Night will fall" last night. Currently working through Black Earth Rising. Good article in the Times yesterday concerning Rachel Riley's battle with (left-wing) anti-semites.

I think it's probably a good idea to be educated more about genocides than, e.g the Glorious Revolution.

There are people on both sides who blame 'Zionists' for a lot and leading the 'New World Order'. Don't think you can blame a whole religion/race of people though any more than blaming muslims for terrorism or cis straight white males for oppression and patriarchy.

It's all prejudice and bigotry at the end of the day whoever's engaging in it.

I'll quote the first bit for you:

Uwe Luthardt was a senior member of the NPD but quit to inform on the party which Germany tried unsuccessfully to ban several years ago.
He told of weapons stores and how members greet each other with "Heil Hitler" salutes, sing the banned songs of the Third Reich and relish the idea of a new Holocaust against the Jews.
Do you not think it inevitable that there will be those on the far right who want another Holocaust?

We have these surveys every so often and if you google it you will find the same news in other countries.

The same type of story has been going on for a few years.

It’s natural for people to under estimate the amount of Jews killed. For young people I can understand them finding it hard to imagine that someone would kill millions of people in extermination camps.

I don’t think it signals a surge in extremism or right wing nazis successfully influencing people.

Anyone find details of the actual survey, who carried out, who paid for it?

Yes, because I read the linked article.

“Such widespread ignorance and even denial is shocking,” said Olivia Marks-Woldman, chief executive of the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust (HMDT), which commissioned the poll.
And a little look at the HMDT website

The survey of over 2,000 people (carried out by Opinion Matters and weighted to be a representative sample of UK adults)

I did not really wanna say this mainly because it is a pretty sore subject but

The scale of ignorance about the Holocaust has shocked experts. Olivia Marks-Woldman, of the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust, said: “I must stress that I don’t think [the poll respondents] are active Holocaust deniers – people who deliberately propagate and disseminate vile distortions. But their ignorance means they are susceptible to myths and distortions.”

Who if you look at the website does the following

'I joined the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust (HMDT) as Chief Executive in February 2012. I have overseen the growth of Holocaust Memorial Day around the country and a hugely increased media presence.'

Holocaust Memorial Day Trust | Staff team

So this looks like nothing more than really a big advert for the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust - being reported as if in some way to make out the people of the UK are holocaust deniers.

Not sure if any of you have Amazon prime - or even if you do you would watch the Grand Tour - long story short James had a car that was owned by a bunch of champagne socialists - whose only contribution to anything was 'raising awareness'

Which generally means pontificating a lot and doing fook all whilst drinking champagne.
