F****s closing down police stations, no wonder crime is up - at times like this MORE money should go into police, not less, utter cretins.

Very sad, drug related as usual?

County lines have changed the way drugs are sold because of more efficient policing. Drug dealers hire runners and mules and then relocate them. However as they are distributed much more violence is used to keep the runners & mules in line.

combine that with cuckoo-ing and the whole game has changed.

numbers are back to the same as they were in 2000 before Labour ran up the credit cards. If you want more police pay more tax.

Violent crime had been falling all over the western world for several decades. That has been immaterial of police budgets.

Small wonder that in 2010 the decision to cut police budgets was made.
Whether that is the cause of increased violent crime is not certain IMO, although it certainly correlates.
However it also correlates with reduced stop and search. Stop and searches have reduced due to policy.
Most knife crime is black on black. Stop and searches are used against black people in greater proportion than their population size.
For my money that is a better correlation than simply reduced police numbers.

Closing down police stations that were strategically positioned in the middle of local areas to then sell land for flat building is criminal behavior.

When cuts to welfare were made, it was obvious that crime would go up

Welfare cuts, combined with the knowledge of getting away with more crime increases theft, but not necessarily violent crime.

Theft is crime too! Just because it's violent it's not ok to close eyes on it, which is what police doing

Well yes.... this isn’t potatobhouy you’re talking to.

Theft has generally been decreasing though, until the last year. So not correlated directly with austerity.

Well in our area burglaries (technically not theft) going up, I guess they’ve finished off other places!
