Default Flashman - George Macdonald Fraser

Anybody else a fan of this series of books?

Great entertainment, although not for the PC-minded.

First read them back in the 70s, then again in the 90s, and now working my way through them as audiobooks.

They don't write 'em like that anymore.

Never read any, but at school I was an extra in Royal Flash because the opening scene was filmed in our Great Hall

I assume we were cheaper to use than Rugby, or possibly they just didn't want to be associated with the project. As an adaptation, it was so bad that GMF refused to allow any more film adaptations for the rest of his life

Loved them - my Dad has pretty much the full set and I read several in the early 80's. Brilliant.

Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

Yep, I’ve got all the Flashman books.

He got me through 19th Century history, Flashy did.

I picked one up in my local bookstore and, frankly, I was shocked that this kind of content is available these days considering the sensibilities of a certain demographic.

I wrote to Watertones and strongly suggested they considered an advisory warning anyone of an overly wokeish disposition of the strong colonial sentiments expressed within these titles.

I'm getting bored with this one. You're losing your touch.
