Default France invites architects to redesign the spire

Why? Why not rebuild it as it was before the spire? Why do we have to have some modern material fake. Why waste money on architects unless of course France has lost the original drawings?

Because it wasn't original to the building, it was added in the 19th century during a previous restoration. As the original building is over 800 years old it really wasn't contemporary to the building anyway, so why not rebuild it with something that adds to the story.

Of course, if you'd actually bothered to try and answer your own question you'd have quickly found all this and saved yourself the trouble of looking like an idiot. Again.

Doesn't mean it has to have a modern spire conceived of modern materials. Perhaps you'd be happy with something resembling the Shard stuck on top (but not quite so big obviously), maybe just a huge dildo...oh where are the paintshop guys and gals when you need them.

So who exactly has said that's what is going to happen? Has anyone announced what it will look like or be made of?

Doesn't matter what I think of the design they do eventually come up with, it's a French cathedral, they get to decide how it will be restored.

But you wouldn't have had the chance to impress us with your knowledge of Notre Dame. The needless ridiculing of another human being just makes you look a twunt.

i think you mean "impress you with my ability to read an article on the BBC website". I do appreciate that this is something you struggle with but you really shouldn't get so hung up about it. Give it a go. It's easier than you think

Nope, it wasn't built by slaves. It was built by Carpenters, Master Masons, Craft Masons, Apprentices and labourers. All of whom were paid. The local populace would have been paid by itinerant Masons who lodged with them, the Apprentices would have resided in the "Lodges" built on the site, to guard the site, the materials and tools. The local community would've benefitted greatly by having so many people from out of the area working on the building of the Cathedral.

From knowledge not gained from the BBC News Website!

If you have further interest may I suggest you research "Compagnons du Devoir et du Tour de France". Lack of knowledge can be cured, ignorance, probably not.

Ignorance is a lack of knowledge.
Your ignorance about ignorance, is ignorance indeed.

Thank you for your contribution. Most helpful.
