"Moral Money: 'My boyfriend drinks more than me but we split the bill 50:50'"

"My boyfriend and I have been together for just over a year and we eat out on a regular basis.

Every time we are at a restaurant he will order a bottle of wine, while I will have a beer – in fact, more often than not I have a soft drink. I'm not much of a drinker.

We always split the bill 50:50, however I am finding it increasingly frustrating that he never offers to contribute more given his bottle of wine makes up £20 or so of the bill. I wouldn't care so much were it not for the fact that he also earns considerably more money than I do.

Am I justified in saying something, or will I look petty?

    SH, via email"

    This isn't autobiographical, is it?
His heart is in the right place - shame we can't say the same about his brain...

I thought this was from Money Saving Expert at first. Their moral money questions are laughable. I tend to click the link to chuckle at the outrage expressed on the forum.

How do you know that they're not both "dudes"?

These articles and so-called reader's letters are made. They often turn up again after a couple of years.
