    Conservative Death Wish

So, a Tory MP who was deselected by his party due to lying about expenses has been reselected to fight the by-election that this caused. You couldn't make it up...

Chris Davies: Ex-Tory MP reselected for by-election - BBC News
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

To be accurate, he was recalled by his constituents after being convicted of fiddling his expenses.

So that makes him qualified for the job, right?

I’m too dirty to be a minister but just dirty enough to be an MP, says Fallon

Another one about to bite the dust. Apparently there are 12 further Tory MPs planning to bring Boris down, they'll be turfed out anyway so they may as well bring the whole party tumbling down in a no confidence vote.

          I'm alright Jack

Come the GE after the no confidence vote, we’ll end up with a coalition of the elite xenophobes and the racist xenophobes. National Farage/Nigel Front will be coalition PM with the Gove-led Tory party playing the Lib-Dem whipping boys.

...it is the will of the people.
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore

It was an admin error. Had he claimed against a different allowance it would have been perfectly legitimate, but he ticked the wrong box. I bet there's a few on here who have sailed close to the wind on expenses, and breathed a sigh or two when nobody asked the difficult questions.
His heart is in the right place - shame we can't say the same about his brain...

Ah yes, ticking the wrong box.

He admitted that in March 2016 he made a claim under the MPs' allowances scheme and provided an invoice that he knew to be "false or misleading".

The second charge was attempting to provide false or misleading information for an allowance claim using an invoice "that he knew to be false or misleading" in April 2016.

Two offences of forgery were dropped.

The court heard Davies had contacted a photographer in Brecon and purchased nine images from him to decorate and display in his constituency office - using his own money to pay the £700 for them initially.

There were two budgets available to him, the Start Up Costs Budget - for office furniture and IT equipment - and The Office Costs Budget, both of which he could claim the full amount from.

But Philip Stott, prosecuting, revealed Davies found in February 2016 that only £476.02 was left in the Start Up Costs Budget, with £8,303.75 remaining in the other.

He then proceeded to create two fake invoices, so the £700 cost could be split between the two budgets - £450 to the Start Up and £250 for the other.

The court heard he could have claimed the full amount from the budget with the larger amount available or had the photographer create new legitimate invoices to split the cost that way.
