    if the government care about the climate

    why does one vehicle with an MPG of 24 mpg cost just £265 car tax, and the one with an MPG of 27 cost £570 car tax?

    One's a 58 plate, the other a 57 so no new laws as far as I'm aware...

            If they were newer, it would be the tax on buying a car with a list price > £40k - even if it does 100mpg, you pay an extra £320 a year for 5 years.

            It's because the party who want to encourage businesses don't want those businesses to be able to sell good stuff unless their customers fork out even more tax.
