Bernie Sanders in climate change 'population control' uproar - BBC News

Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has been criticised after arguing population control should be part of tackling climate change.

This really is annoying. I having been refusing to take seriously ways to combat AGW until population control was mentioned. What is the point of having 10billion people on the planet all living off lentils and whittling spoons to survive?

Of course, replace "arguing" with "ageing" in the above sentence and you see where the debate is heading.....

Bernie says: Women in poor countries should have access to birth control
Steve Scalise response: 'Bernie says your tax dollars should be used to fund abortions in foreign countries to reduce population size'.

Edited to blame the guilty correctly

There's a first, I actually agree with him.

So do I. For a start it is empowering to women.

What I am not sure is why America should pay for it. I doubt that part will go down well with voters.

Fortunately there are others who are doing some doing, rather than arguing over the internet about it.

We need to split the population by roughly half, say 48% to 52% and then remove slightly less that 50% of the population from the gene pool.

No. It needs more like 90%.

That is purely look from an earth perspective. Get that down to individuals and its not nice.

There was some prick on this forum(I know, we're spoiled for choice) who was wittering on about the population heading towards 11Billion and the Earth could sustain this - your thoughts?
