If you need to work, you're not free.

Given you can always quit a permie job, I see no reason not to take a great offer and see if it's good or not.

I don't have a number in my head because I place more importance on WFH, work-life balance, etc - I don't take many holidays but I am pretty flexible on hours especially in the summer. If a company would employ me on those terms I'd be happy to consider it, but that seems somewhat unlikely.

In your case it doesn't. But quality product gets a quality price.

I like freelancing and would struggle with some of the crap that comes with permie roles but I'm a never say never person so there's always a chance that something worthwhile will present itself.

              Oh dearie me.
Think I last earned 75K in the 90s.
With the non-contributory pension added it is equivalent to over £80K. Plus I'm getting paid to take 30 days holiday, plus bank holidays and I get paid when I'm off sick, and i get paid to go on lots of training courses too.

But yeah, on a purely money terms it makes little sense compared to IT contracting.

I know you get like £2k per day and pretty much tax free...

For me it has to be a good baseline salary (i'd say £75k min) plus:

At least 10% pension contribution on top
The best possible private healthcare (so that means disregard all prio medical history as a minimum) including whole family
                30 days paid holiday
                35 hours max working week
                Fully subsidised restaurant
                Onsite gym
Walking distance from home in under 15 mins

                Which I have

                Yes I'm a permie bitch
You're on the wrong site fella

                      My permie role is:

£100,000 + bonus (typically around the £30k mark but it varies with company and personal performance).
                      Share options
                      Pension
                      Private medical
                      Flexible hours
Work from home 2 days a week minimum.

You can keep the contracts for now, this suits my lifestyle far better.
