As animals, our primary objective is to procreate. However in times past there were natural mechanisms that would keep down the population. Those mechanisms are being over-ridden, the population of the planet is growing, in areas that are unsustainable.

Pay your £3 a month so a village in the middle of nowhere has water and the kiddies don't die of cholera. However, spare a thought for what's going to happen when those kiddies are no-longer kiddies and start breeding kiddies of their own, who's going to support them?
And in rich countries living off the past like the UK, cretins like you even have jobs.
Consider the fact that in Victorian times you and your ilk, if you survived being cannon fodder, would languish in the work house.
    Hard Brexit now!

The UK economy is based on an ever increasing population. Something that those who support that model while detesting immigration must find is a dichotomy.

Spare a thought for those old racists who need foreigners to help them physically and need foreigners to keep the economy growing.

Ah, so you don’t understand that immigrants are people who are born elsewhere - and maybe they are kiddies of kiddies, etc.

So we feed and water 'em in situ and then when they're old enough to wipe some old codger's arse let them into the country?

Why don't we just fly them all in when they're kiddies? You could get loads more on a plane.

Let's put a few facts forward.

                    1) Climate change is unlikely to end the human race - it may end lots of human lives but that is not the same as ending the human race - so current population about 7.7 billion - 1% of that is 7.7 million - so if climate change wipes out 99% of the population there is still enough people to repopulate the world.

                    2) Ultimately the earth is a closed ecology - yes it is a very big one but if the population keeps rising then the collapse is inevitable as you can only recycle things so many times - so there needs to be population control or to put it another way someone needs to play god if Greta is to get her way.

                    3) As has been stated before the sun will become a red giant in 4.5 billion years and that will wipe out all life on earth.

                    4) So if the human race is to avoid extinction then we really need to get out there and colonise the rest of the universe.

You may say that 4.5 billion year is a long time - it is and it also assumes no other event completely threatens the earth - however if we do not work towards a solution I would imagine the Greta Thunbergs of 4.5 billion years into the future are going to be fooking livid we knew the sun would become a red giant and we did nothing about it.

[Spoiler alert] The universe will end and maybe not long after our sun.

Time Will End in Five Billion Years, Physicists Predict

In the meantime we can bawl over single use plastic but we're all just the next pool of oil for a future civilisation to find. We have yet to find a medium with more longevity than stone for recording our history, so all we do now is going to be lost in time like all the previous human civilisations we no longer have much of a trace of.

So my take home is chill out and enjoy what you can from life. As long as you can live with your actions then it's all good.

I'm not about to start contemplating "what would Greta do?" when going for a take-out coffee. Especially when she was papped on a train surrounded by plastic wrappers and other far from zero carbon footprinted items. She's on the road to becoming an angry enviro-terrorist, they should lock her up now.
Maybe tomorrow, I'll want to settle down. Until tomorrow, I'll just keep moving on.

not sure we will get to peak population before we get to peak consumption.

As mentioned we really need the population growth to slow now. The "no glove no love" message needs to get out over there.

As recently as 2004, the United Nations’ expected Africa to grow only to 2.2 billion people by 2100. That number now looks very out of date.

What has caught demographers off-guard – and has required such dramatic revisions – is that African fertility has not fallen as expected. Precipitous declines in fertility in Asia and Latin America, from five children per woman in the 1970s to around 2.5 today, led many to believe Africa would follow a similar course.

The total fertility rate of Africa is 88% higher than the world standard (2.5 children per woman globally, 4.7 children per woman in Africa).
not going to say I told you so.

A few heroic efforts, such as Family Planning 2020, are attempting to stimulate family planning programmes across the continent, and there are some signs of success. Recent figures from Kenya and Zambia show substantial strengthening of contraceptive use among married women. In Kenya, 58% of married women now use modern contraception, and in Zambia this measure has risen from 33% to 45% in the last three years.
two thirds of married women not using contraception but it shows education is better than economics for population growth.

Even here the figures for child of foreign born residents are much higher despite the relative wealth of the UK.

Births by parents’ country of birth, England and Wales - Office for National Statistics

Just over a third (33.9%) of babies born in England and Wales had at least one parent born outside the UK in 2017.
“Just over a third of the babies born in England and Wales in 2017 had at least one parent who had been born outside the UK. This will include parents who moved to the UK as children and have lived here most of their lives as well as those who have recently migrated. The proportion of live births to non-UK-born parents has been growing since 1990 and is now the highest on record.

not bad considering the foreign born population is 9.3 million out of an estimated 66.4 million (14% so roughly 7% women).
