A Los Angeles police officer responding to a loud Halloween costume party at a Benedict Canyon mansion early Saturday morning shot and killed an actor, who authorities said pointed what turned out to be a fake handgun at him.

Anthony Dwain Lee, 39, of Van Nuys, who appeared in the movie “Liar, Liar” and on such television shows as “ER” and “NYPD Blue,” was shot at multiple times by Officer Tarriel Hopper, who fired from outside through a window, authorities said.

It was a halloween party with other guests dressed as cops.

What is inneresting is that the copy fired a magazine load through the glass door & hit the chap with 4 slugs out of 9, all of which entered his back.

Which is a tad odd.

It's interesting to note that when Tony Bliar banned hand guns in the UK, that the rules were somewhat quirky. While flintlock arms are exempt from the ban, even some relatively modern handguns are also, whilst older versions are banned. Apparently, if a hand gun uses a calibre of bullet which is no longer available, then it was not banned. Not sure if there have been any incidents with such guns when bullets have been clandestinely manufactured.

IIRC someone was sent down last year* for producing obsolete calibre cartridges and selling them on to naughty people.

Some handguns are still legal if you want something with a foot long barrel with a foot long "extension" to the butt.

The example I saw was a Taunus pistol in 44 mag.
