    Buy into the new technology, and forget about the ones that have an old fashioned internal lead-acid battery.

    The modern ones like this one, are small, compact and double up as a USB charging device. I have one that starts my 5.0l V8 from dead...

        I recall John Cadogan wittering on about a new device that'll start your car with an almost flat battery...

        The price is in Aussie Dollars...

                Yes, but not 180Ah. A jump starter only needs to supply hundreds of amps for a few seconds.

                  The unit contains Capacitors which are charged up; they provide the initial "oomph". Believe me, I have started my 5.0l V8 / 4.2l V8 and 3.2 Flat-Six using a single charge...

                    Makes sense. Big capacitors can discharge an extremely high current.
