So if I were you it's better to keep the old faith alive else you will end up in hell

I must admit I was wondering where the 'new theory' had come from. I'd always thought Jesus disappeared 2000 years ago and hadn't been in contact since.

A bit like being brought up to support Manchester United has now become being brought up to hate Liverpool FC, so Christianity has acquired an antipathy to Jews. Most notable is the Pontius Pilate episode where the narrative is "It wasn't (our friends) the Romans who killed Jesus; it was the Jews", which beggars belief now we have the benefit of hindsight and much better historical sources.
That is simply not true, there actually became two inner sects of Christianity in Paleo times as demonstrated by the mosaics in Santa Sabina, high on the Aventine. Founded in 425 CE it has a mosaic representing the ecclesia ex circumcision et ecclesia ex gentibus . I suggest you read Rodney Starks 'Rise of Christianity'.

The enormous numbers of different beliefs is the best argument against religion. As they can't all be true what is the likelihood that any one of them is?

And surely, if there was an almighty god who cared about mankind, he would have done a better job of communicating his message than scattering his prophets/messiahs around the world at different times and telling us different things?

Wouldn't say I was an atheist exactly; a creator seems as good a theory as any for existence, but there isn't a jot of evidence that mankind has any special place in his plans.

                Irrelevant.
                ...
                1+1 = -99999999 : False
                1+1 = -99999998 : False
                1+1 = -99999997 : False
                ...
                1+1 = 0 : False
                1+1 = 1 : False
                1+1 = 2 : True
                1+1 = 3 : False
                1+1 = 4 : False
                ...

What are the odds that 1+1=2? Basically zero. But it's still true (In the decimal system using standard rules of arithmetic and the set of all the integers).

1=1 is a class of propositions known as tautologies. You don't need to prove they are correct or not; they are correct by definition. More general issues of whether something 'can be proven' come under epistemology. Whether Christians are prone to be anti-Semitic is something you can apply philosophy and logic to but whether or not God exists is more metaphysics. Logical Positivism (a Brexiteer 20th Century British idea) would say these fall into the area of faith; you can't apply logic to determine their validity. Anyway, bottom line is you can't apply your analogy because these are different classes of proposition.

Wow is this BS what your sectleader tells you to proof the existence of a goddess?
If you reason like that than the chance for anything in the universe is almost infinitely smàll, the chance you were born is almost zero, the fact that your dad didn't jerk himself off the day your spermatoid was ready to launch with millions of others on that particular day fertilizing that particular egg. Any other combination wouldn't have been you.
