Working in IT with Aspergers I would have thought the FBI might have been wanting a visit as well to be fair. Nice to be popular and all that.

NLUK, some of us can form relationships outside of our accountants and don't shoot blanks, so we may talk about our families and children instead.

So we do also get a disability allowance for DS1 and frankly I'll take it. We could also have a disability sticker for the car if we wanted, but as he's able bodied and more likely to do a runner when he gets out of it, that one I invested in a pair of Nike Running shoes with the allowance instead.

I'm presently having to take on the local authority on over schooling. Coming up for secondary school DS1 will not be able to do a mainstream school and special schools will have to deal with his special needs specifically, so we're down to a shortlist of two schools out of 30 we've visited. The local authority would like to place him in the local mainstream school, even though he's not been in one for years and needs constant supervision.

So I offered to pay for one of the two speciailist schools, but you're not allowed to do that. So I now have a rather expensive £250 per hour solicitor on it, I'm around £7000 down and looking at £15000-£35000 to get the local authoritity to back down and send him to the school he needs. So in answer to the question, F U C K yes, I'd take the money because they're going to screw you over anyway in the end.

YAY got awarded last 2 years. Good few £K.

OK its not means tested so no issue there. For the 1st time in my life I do feel a bit guilty though... Yes his care has cost a few quid over the years (lomg story but I'm sure I must have the highest gas bill in wales!)

Don't tell me - you lot would turn it down?
Don't see why you feel the need to feel guilty - you're claiming for your son legitimately so all above board. Surprised it's not PIP though now, I thought they had scrapped DLA for new claimants?

Not at all - that money is awarded for a reason, and you're eligible. Same as claiming child benefit IMHO.

I think it's still DLA for kids. PIP is for over 16s.

Only £250/hour? You should have chosen the one I recommended. £400/hour. Though my total bill for both children was only £6000.

I very much doubt your total bill will rise above £15k.

Ah, didn't realise that. Wifey transferred to PIP from DLA recently so assumed this was happening for everyone (she's not under 16 so wasn't kept on DLA )

absolutely not. When you see the amounts that feckless chavs receive in handouts, any family that has any sort of disability should be entitled to all the help they can get. My grandson is autistic and he receives support, including a one to one at school.

Touché, but at least I'm considering a career in contracting now they've cancelled Jeremy Kyle.

Tis indeed a nightmare. Took two years.....

Like I said, Im sure they just reject you anyway based on the form. The people in the tribunal/court included a doctor and a asd specialist so it was a bit more sensible to be honest.

BUT I wonder how many people dont bother to appeal. Scandalous really....
