I don't ever remember a prolonged shortage of fruit of any kind prior to the UK joining the EU. So, who was picking it then? There were seasonal shortages as a result of the weather, just as there are now. We did hear much about butter mountains though!

“Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones.”

Yup, everything was rosy before we joined the EU. We had centre and left of centre governments We had nationalised everything. We had an NHS.
Then we joined the EU and everything changed.

Don’t worry after Brexit the elderly population can change their name from blackcurrents to just currents

not so, Labour only nationalised ship building and steel making after 1964. And despite strong opposition from the likes of Bristol Channel Shipbuilders, many of the same ilk were still nationalised. I guess both the steel industry and the ship building industries became decimated and might have survived better if they hadn't been nationalised.

    .

yes, and I still contend that it would have been much more difficult for Ford to export private car production to the EU and for Nestle to buy Rowntree and for HP sauce to be made in NL, if we had not been members of the EU. Komrade Korby was always opposed to the EU, perhaps partly for these reasons.

The only time I've come across political correctness in the work place was when I was accused by a permie of using racist language by using the word 'blackmail'.
