    There are very good reasons why spouses of diplomats also have diplomatic immunity from prosecution.

    Americans are very unwilling to extradite their officials and relatives. They even adapted a law to invade (their ally) The Netherlands in case someone has been arrested and has been brought at the international court of justice in The Hague.     No it's not, but it is used constantly as an excuse by all diplomats, albeit in much less serious cases for example such as illegal parking in London
