My mistake it's more nuanced than my response - it's actually this bit

Diplomats lose much of their immunity following the termination of their diplomatic status under Article 39 of the VCDR, which provides that the "immunities shall normally cease at the moment when he leaves the country … but shall subsist until that time … However, with respect to acts performed by such a person in the exercise of his functions as a member of the mission, immunity shall continue to subsist."

And the accident wasn't while exercising her functions as part of the mission (she was driving somewhere) so the immunity is no longer valid as she's back home.

I don't think that would matter - very very few places are going to prefer upsetting the USA to upsetting us.

She could come back here and give the queen a slap if the US decided that's what they wanted. The "Special Relationship" has always been seriously one sided, and it's only going to get worse after the UK has voted for a diminished role in the world pecking order.
