More black people were murdered in Chicago during Obama's 8 years than were killed in the entire Vietnam war. I've always found that to be a morbid comparison, nobody really cares, Obama didn't.

I think the difference is this one is a hate crime & the guy went on a bit of a rampage from what I understand. I'm not really sure you can compare that to each of the individual murders in Chicago. A lot of those I imagine would be gang related. Not saying they're less important at all but Chicago has the highest crime rate in the US. Not every incident is going to attract the same media attention unfortunately.

It is necessary to raise awareness of the number deaths and their cause and maybe part of the answer should be that every time someone is killed there is media coverage.
