    Is is all about EU?

My Spanish wife is getting news from family back home that there is a somewhat similar shuttering of the self-employed going on in Spain at the moment, except there the excuse is "the EU made us do it". The Spanish economy has a lot of freelancers rather like the UK but it looks like that's coming to an end - if the authorities have their way.

Also suggests we've been conned. We are not leaving but integrating further on that "level playing-field" that we've been hearing so much about recently.

They are just refining the employment model to give more control to corporations and less options to the other side. It was undermining their main option that they are pitching as well.
    Just my 2 cents.
At least we don’t have freedom written all over the walls.

The tentacles of the EU are spread far and wide, even Australia is clamping down.

IR35 future: Australia’s legislation to tackle false self-employment

Contractors working in Australia are subject to a set of well-developed tests designed to determine if a contractor’s business is generating ‘personal services income’ (PSI). If caught, the contractor’s PSI is treated as personal income and the contractor is taxed accordingly, similar to the UK's IR35 legislation.
      I'm alright Jack
