Originally posted by saurabh1 View PostHi, I wish to work from home whilst coronavirus is a threat, however my customer says this is not possible as there is no remote access to secure network.
I have said that I can work in other activities eg documentation, familiarisation with system, online training to improve my skills etc, but customer says no I must be on site?
This is not fair, other employees working on non secure area are free to work from home? Is this discrimination and would I have a case for grievance procedure?Comment

Strikes me that for decades there has always been talk of much of the office based workforce working from home as technology improves etc etc but it has never really taken off. Perhaps culture will change and this may kick start with coronavirus?Comment

We sure this isnt a troll? Seriously moaning because the permies get something hes not. He even admits he can't access the secure area from home that the permies aint working on.
Jeez. Heard it all now.
Its a hard life. Sometimes permie team leaders are like this. Mine is - he got this idea in his head that permies could work from home but me, as a contractor could not. Its bollacks really but, at the end of the day when I signed up WFH was never on the table so I can't "expect it". Do I moan about? Of course I do. Do they get favours from me any more - do they ****... But end of the day, its easy public sector gig and rate is decent.
I'll just hang on until this guy gets promoted and an easy gig may turn into a piss easy gig if next team leader allows it ;-)
Point being OP - suck it up or leave.Rhyddid i lofnod psychocandy!!!!Comment
