    ACE inhibitors DOOM

Re: Preventing a covid-19 pandemic: ACE inhibitors as a potential risk factor for fatal Covid-19 | The BMJ

People with high blood pressure are more likely to die from Covid-19. A possible mechanism for this is that ACE inhibitors might stimulate ACE2 enzyme production. Covid-19 gains access to humans via the ACE2 receptors in the lungs. This may mean if you take an ACE inhibitor, your risk of catching a bad dose of Covid-19 is increased.

We're all DOOOOOOOOOOOMed I tell ya.

I've emailed my doc for advice.

Ramipril made me cough, so they switched me to Losartan which if I'm reading correctly will make it less severe, rather than more, though Dr. Google has some conflicting information at the best of times....

"A tentative suggestion based on existing therapeutics, which would likely be resistant to new coronavirus mutations, is to use available angiotensin receptor 1 (AT1R) blockers, such as losartan, as therapeutics for reducing the aggressiveness and mortality from SARS-CoV-2 virus infections."

              I'm on Ramipril and Amlodipine.

Also, have Asthma, but apart from that fit as a fiddle.

On a side note the wife went to the docs today for a sick note. Couldnt get into the doctors had to wait at the door. Nurse then escorted her to the hand wash and then to where she needed to be to get the note. Not left alone. Not taking any chances.

Wonder if we should take this seriously.

Blimey. Covid hits just as we get a forum to be full of stupid questions from permatractor noobs just realising something is happening.

It could be its not just contracting I can blame them for speeding up the demise of.

I need to make sure the wife knows where the life insurance docs are!

I can tell you she is very well aware of where they are if that helps
