    Nursery closed from Friday

Do parents get a refund and not expected to pay anymore ?

In London it’s about £1800 a month, and 3 month notice period ?

    Refund - are they solvent?
Notice - not your problem. No service, no payment. Pity the poor staff and business owners.

There is a concern about the loss of the 30 free hours.

I am more worried that the staff have no income and the parents have to find alternate child care or stop working themselves.

A three month mortgage or rental holiday is not going to help massively as not everyone has the troublesome problem of having to open extra bank accounts when they hit £85k

There was a guy a week or two ago on telly who ran/owned a nursery - just keeping heads above water.

If forced to close, they would go bust, 15 or so staff would have no jobs and 60 odd families looking for new childcare.

Judging by my fb feed, several of my friends have already lost work and we've barely started...

This is being discussed across the internet.

Advice one is to read your contract.

Advice two is if you will need childcare after this is over and are still working, come up with an agreement to pay a retainer.

HMT has just announced no charge for commercial rates for child care providers.

Advice 2 makes little sense as you are gambling that the Nursery you are paying a retainer to will still exist after this is over...
