There was an arrogance, it was media hyping the issue up we were told , we don't need to isolate.. all not helped by a PM shaking hands with every ill person trying to prove a point.

Had mass testing & isolation only begun a week earlier the collateral damage would have been significantly reduced.

Frontline staff still don't have essential PPE contrary to what the politicians are saying. As usual its up to the public to take upon this responsbility. These guys are doing a great job https://wwwdot3dcrowd.uk/]HOME | 3DCrowd UK

We don't have the ability to do this, we don't have the people to organise this and the view from the WHO and Lancet 9 weeks ago was that it was not really that contagious.

Maybe Boris was thinking he was Princess Diana, hugging AIDS sufferers.

Could Prince Philip deal with Boris as well?

From a health worker in Lausanne, posted today.

Swiss hospitals are never swamped during flu season. They are now. The hospital were I work is moving all the orthopedics patients to some out of the way corner because they need more beds for internal medicine. Pediatricians are being called in to take care of adult patients. Ophtalmologists are currently working in internal medicine wards treating pneumonia. As are dermatologists, gynecologists, and probably soon even psychiatrists.

Every single hospital in Switzerland has closed as much of their OR as they can to free ventilators and staff. The CHUV has transformed one entire floor of operating rooms into additional ICU beds. THIS IS NOT THE FLU!!!!! The mortality rate is higher, the complication rate is higher. We have a flu epidemic every. single. year. and never have we needed to take such measures. The wave has not hit, patients dying today were diagnosed before the half assed lockdown we're living now. We will most likely sadly see hundreds of deaths per day in the coming weeks. We had 170 deaths 48 hours ago, we are now at 275 and most cantons still haven't communicated the numbers for today.

We are going to need beds, oxygen, ventilators, tubing, nurses, doctors, gowns, masks, gloves, everything. The wave is going to hit, make no mistake. The fact it hasn't yet is just giving us more time to move patients out of the hospital, open old wards that were left unattended for decaded and build literal tents in the hospital parking lots for testing. But just because people aren't dying en masse yet doesn't mean they won't.
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!

They can’t do mass testing - no infrastructure for it and no supplies in needed quantities, this probably saved 20-30 mln quid in cost cuts tho
