It's certainly crazy times. In the good old days (20 plus years ago) you would be advised to buy physical gold as its the best non-fiat 'currency'. Unfortunately the price of gold has been (and still is) massively manipulated by the powers that be for years and years now. However there may come a time that the physical gold demand becomes so great that the manipulation fails.

I like the old quote about Gold ..... 'Question .. how much is one gold coin purchased in 1980 now worth ? ..... Answer ... it's worth one gold coin'.

Gold has recovered most of the ground lost over the past month.

It certainly can't harm to have a bit of your money it, which is what I'm doing.
Scoots still says that Apr 2020 didn't mark the start of a new stock bull market.

Have to admit I'm still a fan of property to generate rental income, maybe not in the Uk.
Yes you'll be taxed to the nth degree, but rents always reflect the value of money, high or low, so you get an income that is in synch with the zeitgeist.

The first one to admit it. There will be others. Looking bad for commercial landlords.

Sure they do... we've just chosen to ignore it. Oh that can't happen here. This time it's different, they'll say.

Truth be told, the only way out of this pickle is to do an Iceland as we should have done in 2008. Let bankrupt businesses go bankrupt FFS. Accept unemployment will rise to 20%+ but new jobs will be created, interest rates will rise again. When it's clear hyper inflation is upon our doorstep the price of Gold will shoot up.

And less we forget we've still got out self inflicted economic sanctions coming up on December 31st for full FUBAR.

And for sure this will spill over to the private sector. Go on rightmove.co.uk and you'll find private landlords putting up their portfolios for a fixed price. They're panicking.

I'm not getting rent on my props at the moment (it was mainly AirBnB). But that's fine I have no mortgages on them.
