You should be able to do that in one day

Another one from Job Serve today. Read all the way to the end....

PowerBI consultant required to implement a PowerBI infrastructure to replace a complex system of excel spreadsheets that has evolved over time. We need to clean and combine data sources such as timesheet data, staff data, billing rates, absence tracking and resource projections and make them usable in reporting for business users.

The aim is to create a secure, well-designed data infrastructure that uses canonical data sources and eliminates duplication and stale data. The resulting solution should be capable of providing flexible self-service reporting to PowerBI users in the management and delivery teams, as well as producing the following standard reports for use by those not familiar with PowerBI:

    Workforce Utilisation
By Sub Dept vs Timesheet data
    Workforce Unbilled CTB
    Workforce Trends
Resource roles vs roles in pipeline
Client team size vs roles in pipeline by client - % growth
The infrastructure should be able to work across data sources containing both current and historical data and needs to have thorough and secure access control to allow security both at the data source level and in a hierarchical manner within the data.

The system should be performant and with a set of appropriate authority levels allowing everything from read-only access to set reports to power users able to modify the PowerBI setup itself.

The consultant should be willing to work with technical resources from WTC for purposes of knowledge transfer and providing an in-depth understanding of the platform that is being created.

Data sources may include (but are not limited to) Excel, Azure-hosted data, Jira, live API access and batch extracts from other systems.

    You

Talented, enthusiastic, focused, eye for detail, professional. Keen to learn and to challenge for smarter ways of doing things; a team player proud of their work who wants to share it. You like working in a fast-paced environment and are ready to inspire outstanding online shopper experiences for consumers and brands, no matter what product, service, sector, device or channel!

You will have a customer-first mindset, with the maturity and initiative to do what it takes to keep our clients happy, including some working at client locations. When our clients win - we win

The techy bit .we need you to be really great at:

Expert understanding of PowerBI, including a clear understanding of the capabilities of the various PowerBI deployment options and where they should be used,
Excellent experience of data infrastructure design, data lakes and inclusion of data sources holding current and historical data
Understanding of Azure storage options and where they are applicable
Thorough understanding of implementation of enterprise security restrictions in PowerBI, based on both role, individual permissions and hierarchical reporting lines within the organisation
Creation of standardised shared reports which are protected from user tampering
Creation of an infrastructure enabling shared reporting
Project Length: 1 day initially for analysis of reporting requirements & data source checks to estimate duration of Power Bi project based on required deliverables.

How long is lunch for this one working day?

Sounds fair enough - a day to understand the requirements and provide an estimate for building the solution. I'd be wary of giving them a solution they'd then take and use as a design document to offshore, so the I'd be clear the output of the day is an estimate, not a solution.

I'd want ten days billable for the estimate, with the remaining nine days to be burned off when engaged.
