Reback’s problem is that he agreed to complete the sale of his existing five-bedroom home on April 6, but hasn’t exchanged contracts on the purchase of the new one. The sellers have now decided they don’t want to commit to moving because of the pandemic, he said.

WTF was he doing splitting the chain into 2 bits.

There is a time and a place for people to do that and it's usually when they are being too clever for their own good.

My mother is 'agreed' with a buyer and the seller , everyone involved have just been told , yesterday, that everything stands in stasis for 3 months or 'end of lockdown' by Nationwide and HBOS - so it's looking like everything will just wait till the end.

As eek said, this guy is getting burnt for his own actions.

We've pulled out of a move that was all agreed and in place up to the point of pre-exchange. The purchase would have meant a much larger mortgage for us, which prior to recent events would have been manageable.

But the world has changed and we have to become defensive and be prepared to ride this out.

Five children! Can barely cope with two.

The time to sell has been and gone, 12 month ago. Now sellers will flood the market in a race to the bottom after this pause is over when the realisation the bubble they are riding is soon going to explode and buyers are counting their pennies.

Really is the best strategy right now. No one knows what the world is going to look like in 12 months from now after all this printed funny money enters the system. US unemployment is set to rise to 32%

The more you have, the easier it gets to ignore them, although my advice is always "Stop at 3".
