    Antibody tests

“ ITV’s Robert Peston asked about delays in approving antibody tests arriving from China.

Doyle said it was important that the test was valid. These were being tested at the moment. In the meantime, a separate strand was being tested in UK labs using blood samples from people who have had the disease to determine whether those tests were valid.”

Hmmm those tests supposed to be like 15-30 quick, one would imagine testing them would be fast too...

For some reason you have to go to the New Zealand Herald for this story - it didn’t make it in to HMG’s press conference: Covid 19 coronavirus: UK imports testing kits contaminated by virus - NZ Herald

EDIT: OK, looks like they lifted it from the Telegraph. Just think, if the Telegraph wasn’t paywalled, we wouldn’t have to wait for the New Zealand press to lift their stories

Have you only just worked that out?

You clearly need more gin. HWMBO said he left a full bottle somewhere....

They could have just told the truth, 10 days ago when idioit Govt person said these kits will be available for sale to public on Amazon for like £1

Lies during crisis kills credibility - the only going currency for anybody in charge

You keep using the word lies for things like this. I doubt (in most, if not all, cases) that is deliberate - I'd put it down to ignorance and incompetence.

I'm not sure the government spokespeople have have much credibility anyway, at least from those who can see past the blatant spin (which you also want to call lies).

Or, perhaps, the information was considered correct at the time of sharing but as the situation seems to be changing on a daily basis it was soon out of date.

I don’t care what excuses they have for multiples never-ending failures - right now life-death situation this is inexcusable: people on top whose job was to get ready for this fsiled and should go to jail for manslaughter, at the very least.

“ The UK has not yet found a reliable antibody blood test for coronavirus, England's Health Secretary Matt Hancock has said.

"At the moment we haven't got a reliable home test," he said.

The UK government is aiming to carry out 100,000 coronavirus tests a day in England by the end of April.

Mr Hancock confirmed the 100,000 might all be swab tests for the virus itself.

He said he was "not assuming any [antibody tests] come on stream" in order to hit the target by the end of the month.|

So it’s not slow testing if those FAsT tests work - thye’ve tested them clearly and found that quality not good enough.
