Covid might be a longer-term boon to economies

Capitalism relies on growth, but growth in a finite setting cannot be perpetual. Ergo at some point capitalism must falter as growth reaches its limits.

So what better from that standoint than a natural disaster to undo years of growth, and clear dead wood, so it can resume its upward path subsequently?

It's like a forest fire - New shoots spring up in no time, and before you know it the forest is as vigorous as ever.

You’ll think about it in airport waiting for your Covid-19 test results before they allow you to board

this is one of the reasons that gives Covid a more sinister / conspiracy theory thought. Do wealthy/influential people around the world want to drive the markets down on purpose, so they can move in and profit later. Just like 2008. I was feeling that a lot of shares were over valued before the crash.

China unleashed this virus in the knowledge it would level the west and make them stronger.

We are entering a new paradigm where China is the only global economic superpower going forward. USA, Europe, Japan are all dust now...

            No it doesn't.
If there is no economic growth, the system doesn't stop suddenly. All that happens is that investors don't get richer at a more rapid pace than they were getting richer before.

Maybe not suddenly, but before long a slow decline would set in, just as when an aircrafts engines fail it doesn't plummet to Earth immediately but starts a downward glide ..

By the way, I wasn't suggesting or hinting at any conspiracy, and I don't believe there is one. If there's one thing fat cats like more than money it is staying alive!
