Richard Branson facing backlash over plea for UK bailout of Virgin

“ From his private island in the Caribbean, Sir Richard Branson is trying to convince the UK government to give his Virgin Atlantic airline a £500m bailout to help it survive the coronavirus pandemic and the economic fallout of the lockdown.

The billionaire, who also wants £700m from the Australian government to bailout Virgin Australia, has the backing of bosses at Airbus, which makes Virgin’s planes, and Rolls-Royce, which makes its jet engines, who have warned ministers that if the airline collapsed it could drag them down too.”

The guy is a poor copycat - a tax dodge too, pretty crazy that tax on dividends isn’t applied to all dividends paid regardless where recipient lives, any honest investor living in a comparable to UK country would just use double taxation treaty to offset UK taxes against local taxes.

And now he wants taxpayer support, sure - bail out if business is sound but his shares should go down right to 0 in such businesses if he is not putting in his cash.

You've been away too long. His trains were really crap, his airline isn't much better and his cable tv service is overpriced and has outages measured in geological time.

            The peoples' billionaire?

Oi, be careful. Scooty did all his own research.
