    What is the Bedfordshire accent? Is there one? Or has it become subsumed into "generic Southern"

      "Southern" is south of the M4. Anything else is up north.

                I lived in Bedford from ages 9 to 18 and still have family there, and can confirm that it’s generic Southern. Also, they really struggled to understand a Scouse accent in those days, though I believe many of them now have televisions which might have broadened their linguistic horizons a little.
