when i started contracting, it was punched cards and tape, with teletype terminals.

no screens, no internet, no pizza munching webdevs.

Aye, them were the days, going deaf punching out a 2000 card deck.

Getting electric shocks off the metalised punch tape.

Repairing paper tape with those funny patches.

The absolute joy when the rubber band holding the card deck together finally rots & they cascade all over the floor.

You have to program bluray players?

I just stick dvds or blurays in it & it plays stuff.

It'd be nice if it remembered where it was on the bluray, mind you, the way it does on a dvd.

Hey I very nearly got a job with punched cards in the 80s!

My job came along in '79 and the Univac card punch was sold to another company that wanted it in about 1987 after a regime change.

I was out of there in April '89 with 10 years work in the skip.

i've kept up, which is why i'm working with the latest software and hardware.
and not that toytown windows/apple/android crap either.
