    Government strategy

Seems to be release some gossip on what their strategy might be, see what the noise is like from red tops and their readers, then use the public response as the final strategy. Been doing this all through this pandemic - doing it now with face masks - Boris says one thing probably yes, Gove says most likely no, some other bod says possibly but it's not decided yet. Sit and wait to see what the majority of the public want then release this as strategy.

    What's not to like?

Of course, whilst they wait for us to tell them what we prefer more people lose their businesses, jobs and lives.

Leaking to test public opinion is par for the course

You can also order a poll house to find people to get particular opinion result and then claim majority thinks this and that. This way people who don't think the other way, but don't care enough and they don't want to be a minority, will then change their mind to what "majority" thinks.

People are fed up with gloomster experts. Stop being so undemocratic, and let's send Covid packing!

It's always been there but BoJo and pals are taking it to the extreme - they don't make any decision until it is leaked a week ahead first to gauge opinion.

Leaking softens people up - so when slightly less harsh tax happens people are not upset as much, can’t do that manipulation with internal polling (which they also do)

It's almost as if they're *****, and anyone who supports them is a ****.

Maybe the new border control IT system that they're going to build will stop covid at Calais before it reaches our shores Maybe

Interesting use of the word 'strategy'. That would suggest a managed and well thought out process. It's becoming a shambles. Masks can't be enforced, so why bother discussing whether to make the wearing of masks compulsory?
