EU criminals barred under new points-based system

“ Foreign criminals sentenced to more than a year in jail will be banned from Britain under new immigration rules.

Priti Patel, the Home Secretary, will on Monday set out details of the points-based system which will replace freedom of movement from January 1.

The 130-page document will abolish the route into the UK for unskilled migrants and instead award points to applicants if they have skilled job offers, speak English and meet minimum salary thresholds.”

EU immigrants will be expected to fill out a form, where they will be explicitly asked whether they were in jail for more than one year.

Foreign criminals (including EU) can be banned from Britain under the existing rules however, the UK government are too incompetent to implement it. In any event, how the **** can the UK check to see if foreigners for certain corrupt countries have criminal records? For really hard criminals, they will come on a false passport and throw it away upon arrival. It will not work.

Is that true though, my understanding on this is that EU rules state that a previous conviction was not grounds enough on its own for excluding or removing EU citizens.

They also had to pose an immediate threat.

Many deportations are slowed down by legal challenges on the grounds of human rights.

I really can't see what the issue is with this other than can the border force be effective in implementing it.

How can you blame the 'incompetent government' when jurisdiction rests with the European Court? The government can serve deportation orders, but they can be overturned. How does this qualify as incompetence?
